Key provisions of proposed healthcare and insurance reforms conflict with Congress’ stated goal of delivering affordable healthcare to all, or at least most, Americans. Based on its current ideas, Congress will not deliver on its promise.

Among the problems is a disproportionate public burden proposals place on the middle class. Goal replacement, a confused process, a misplaced premise, and an absence of principles are at the heart of reform problems. Congress is intent on cutting its deficit, but it is doing so by passing a bigger problem onto average families.
